Our Mission
to enable students to use 3D printing to create, to build, to design, to problem-solve, to engineer
We strive to develop design tutorials that will help you learn 3D design as you create fun, unique projects.
Each tutorial is step-by-step to make it easy to follow and includes both written and video instructions so that you can choose the format that best works for you.
Whether you just bought your first 3D printer for your home or you are teaching a classroom full of students, TeachMe3DP tutorials can help you make amazing creations as you develop and enhance your 3D design skills.
Our Story
The story of TeachMe3DP started in 2019. My husband, Georg Pingen, is a professor of Mechanical Engineering. For many years he had wrestled with ideas of how to engage more with local K-12 students—how to expose them to engineering and STEM-related careers before college.
In 2019 the university engineering department bought four 3D printers, and he had an idea. He would offer a weeklong 3D printing summer camp for middle and high school students. This camp should be a fun way to give them hands-on experience with 3D printing and engineering.
He asked me to help. With my experience in educational technology and teaching high school, I jumped right in. We barely slept or ate while preparing for that camp, but when the week was over, we knew it had been a tremendous success.
The students wanted more, the community wanted more, and we have been teaching 3D printing ever since!
We quickly realized that other teachers, as well as kids at home, could really use these detailed tutorials and resources we created, as they began their journeys into 3D printing.
I began posting tutorials online and within weeks people from around the globe were using TeachMe3DP tutorials in their classrooms and homes!
We continue to teach workshops several times a month and multiple camps every summer, so our 3D printing tutorial collection will continue to grow!
